How we build responsibly


Chose a site zoned for light industrial use with 70% less traffic
Direct access off I-70 minimizes traffic impact, with no construction access through residential streets
Buildings will cover less than half of the total site coverage allowed
Closed-loop cooling systems recirculate water for up to 15 years after the initial fill, with no water evaporation during normal operations

When we select a site for a data center, we plan to be part of that community for a long time. Our goal is to be the kind of neighbor, employer, and partner that communities welcome — by acting responsibly and being transparent from the very beginning.

Every dollar of substation capacity, transmission line upgrade, and generation interconnect required for this facility is paid for by Crusoe. Not a cent of cost passes to county ratepayers, the county government, or local utility customers.
Crusoe uses a closed-loop, non-evaporative cooling system. That means that the water that cools the data center recirculates through a sealed loop and is not consumed during normal operations, unlike conventional evaporative data center cooling systems, which can consume up to 1 billion gallons per year. For a 200MW data center, the initial system fill requires approximately 1.7 million gallons, which is the amount of water used by approximately 16 households in a year. Once the system is filled and sealed, the loop requires only minor top-offs to maintain water quality.
Crusoe is committed to hiring locally and regionally first, using workforce development programs and building direct partnerships with the local school district, area vocational training programs, and community colleges. Crusoe will work directly with institutions to develop curriculum and workforce readiness programs that prepare students for careers in data center operations, electrical systems, mechanical engineering, and IT infrastructure. These partnerships and programs will help build a pipeline of skilled workers from the local community.
The preconstruction and construction phases typically take a total of two years. This is followed by approximately 1.5-2 years of building commissioning and staffing before full operations begin. The data center will be operated by the customer to which we lease the site, or by Crusoe for our Cloud service.
Throughout the project, from construction to operations, Crusoe will have a local community engagement staff member and a helpline to address issues and make changes as necessary to address any community concerns.
Any abatement and PILOT agreement would be tied to the property, not to Crusoe as a corporate entity. Obligations would transfer to any future lease, sale, or operator.
