Meet the board

Bill is responsible for developing the firm's overall investment strategy and for managing key relationships across the sector. He brings over 20 years of industry experience and is a member of the Investment Committee.

Prior to co-founding Primary Digital, Bill served as CEO of Digital Realty Trust from 2014 to 2022. Bill co-founded Digital Realty Trust and served as Chief Investment Officer from 2004 to 2014. During his tenure, he oversaw an increase in the firm's market capitalization from $700 million to $50 billion.

In addition to his role at Primary Digital, Bill serves as Chairman of Verne and as a Director and member of the Audit Committee at Crusoe. He also serves on the Board of Directors of Host Hotels & Resorts, where he is Chairman of the Compensation Committee and a member of the Audit Committee, and as a Director of Salute. Bill is also an Advisor to Blue Owl Capital and Armada and an Advisory Board Member at Pennybacker Capital.

Bill earned an A.B. in Classics from Princeton University, an M.S. degree with distinction from Carnegie Mellon University, and a J.D. from the University of Pittsburgh.

Chase Lochmiller co-founded Crusoe in 2018 with the foresight that the biggest bottleneck to AI would be energy. He has assembled a team of leading experts around one idea: put energy first. That's how Crusoe turns electrons into tokens. The company sources innovative power; designs, builds, and operates everything from modular to large-scale AI data centers; manufactures the critical electrical components that keep them humming; and offers AI cloud services that help customers build their future, faster. Before Crusoe, Chase was a General Partner at Polychain Capital and a quantitative trader at Jump Trading and GETCO. He holds degrees in math and physics from MIT and a master's in computer science (AI) from Stanford. He's also climbed five of the seven summits, including Everest.

Cully Cavness spent his early career at the intersection of energy and environment — in geothermal power, energy investment banking, and upstream oil and gas operations. For years he watched the energy industry struggle with a problem hiding in plain sight: vast amounts of energy going up in flames, literally, in the form of natural gas flaring. Co-founding Crusoe in 2018 was his answer to that waste. Today he leads Crusoe's strategy, marketing, public affairs, sustainability, safety and manufacturing initiatives as the company scales into the world's most ambitious vertically-integrated AI infrastructure builder. Before Crusoe, Cully was VP of Finance at Highlands Natural Resources and an energy investment banker at Petrie Partners. He holds a geology degree from Middlebury, an MBA from Oxford, and completed a Thomas J. Watson Fellowship focused on energy economics and technologies. He's also an endurance athlete having completed IronMan, Death Race and several ultramarathons.

Enrique is a partner at Bain Capital Ventures, focused on early-stage infrastructure software companies with a specialization in cybersecurity. Prior to joining BCV in 2014, Enrique was the president and CEO of Symantec (Nasdaq: SYMC) and brings more than 27 years of executive experience in technology and security to Bain Capital. Through his 19 years at the global leader for security, backup, and availability solutions, Enrique also served as the EVP of Worldwide Sales and Marketing and President of Consumer Products. Before Symantec, he was president and CEO of Brightmail, the leading anti-spam software company acquired by Symantec in 2004. In 2011, Enrique was appointed to President Barack Obama’s Management Advisory Board. Select security investments include Dream, Halcyon, Rubrik and Armis. Enrique was named 2004 Entrepreneur of the Year by Ernst & Young, and 2007 Corporate Executive of the Year by Hispanic Net.

JB Straubel is the Founder and CEO of Redwood Materials, a critical materials and energy storage company focused on lithium-ion battery recycling and large-scale energy storage integration. He previously Co-founded Tesla and served as its Chief Technology Officer from 2005 to 2019, where he was central to the engineering and energy systems breakthroughs that defined modern electric vehicles. Straubel currently serves on the boards of Tesla and QuantumScape. He holds a B.S. in Energy Systems Engineering and an M.S. in Engineering from Stanford University.

Nael has served on Crusoe’s board of directors since 2019. He is the CEO and a director of KCK Ltd, a private investment firm focused on private equity and venture capital investments in AI infrastructure, semiconductors, medical technology, financial services, and industrial technology. Nael also serves on the boards of Yield Engineering Systems (YES), Saras Micro Devices, Dukosi, Beyond Finance, Above Lending, Dubizzle, Cerapedics, and Aerin Medical. He holds a bachelor’s degree in Pure Mathematics from Imperial College London and a Master of Advanced Study in Mathematics from the University of Cambridge.

Thomas Seifert is the Chief Financial Officer of Cloudflare (NYSE: NET), where he has led finance since 2017 and guided the company through its 2019 IPO and subsequent growth into a global infrastructure leader. Prior to Cloudflare, Seifert served as CFO of Symantec, where he oversaw the company’s financial transformation and the acquisition of Blue Coat, and as CFO, and briefly interim CEO, of Advanced Micro Devices (AMD). He also served as CFO of Brightstar. Seifert holds an MBA and a bachelor’s in Economics and Business Administration from Friedrich-Alexander University in Germany and an M.A. in economics from Wayne State University.

Vivek Pattipati is a Partner at Valor Equity Partners and serves on the Investment Committee of multiple Valor funds. He brings over fifteen years of experience in investment banking and private equity, with prior roles at Madison Dearborn Partners and Goldman Sachs. He holds an MBA from Harvard Business School and B.A. degrees in Economics and Statistics from the University of Chicago.
